Absence
Management

At K2A, we recommend an effective sickness absence policy is adopted by working together to develop an effective sickness absence management policy. We can provide management training on sickness absence and return to work interviewing. We will also undertake sickness absence consultations and give advice on absence cases and employee fitness to work.

Employees are going to be sick from time to time and further investigation is required for:

  • Repeated short-term sickness absences
  • Long term sickness absence lasting several weeks or more
  • Return to work after a long period of sickness absence
  • Underperforming at work due to a suspected underlying health condition

Health
Surveillance

Health surveillance is a system of ongoing health checks, whereby the outcomes are fed back into the risk management loops to review existing control measures. These health checks may be required by law for employees who are exposed to noise or vibration, ionising radiation, solvents, fumes, dusts, biological agents and other substances hazardous to health, or work in compressed air.

Pre-placement
and Fitness for Work

Attracting and recruiting the right staff can be costly. Pre-placement health screening is an important tool for all companies. It evaluates the wellness or fitness of an applicant’s declared health in relation to the hazards and risks of the job, environment or activities.

Benefits of Pre-Placement Screening

Identify the work-related health risks of the proposed employment

  • Advise managers on the prospective employees’ fitness for the job requirements
  • Provide a baseline for future targeted health screening i.e. lung function test, hearing test etc.
  • Advise on the requirement for health surveillance or screening in relation to a particular job role
  • Offer advice to Management, where necessary, on any reasonable adjustments to the work content or environment that may be required on the declaration of a medical condition or a disability, as defined under the Equality Act.

Following paper-based or Nurse/Doctor assessment, the employer will receive a “Fitness Statement” indicating the applicant’s suitability for employment. The form will usually indicate one of three possible outcomes:

  • Fit for employment
  • Fit for employment with restrictions (restrictions advised)
  • Unfit for the proposed employment: consider alternative duties in line with the Equality Act if applicable.

Health and Wellbeing
Days

K2A will meet with you for a consultation meeting to understand your goals and objectives, key health messages or topics you would like to cover. It should be an informal day for your employees; fun, interactive and informative learning that brings health monitoring awareness as a daily routine.

Employees can also have access to quick health screenings with our onsite staff covering height and weight measurements, body mass index, blood pressure tests, cholesterol testing, urine tests, lungs tests and more according to your requirements.

Face Fit
Testing

K2A is an independent Fit2Fit accredited company specialising in face fit testing helping companies comply with the requirements of legislation and industry regulations. Face fit testing is a method for checking that a tight-fitting facepiece matches the person’s facial features and seals adequately to the wearer’s face. If masks are worn in the workplace then you will be required to provide evidence of a fit test for each mask worn. Face fit testing is required under the COSHH, CLAW and CAW Regulations for all tight-fitting face-pieces.

The types of RPE that can be fit tested with this method include:

  • P1, P2 and P3 disposable masks
  • Full face mask respirators
  • Power assisted respirators
  • Half mask respirators
  • Breathing Apparatus, full and half masks
